Soul songs
“I’m giving you soul imprints to tell you to serve my people.”

There are some songs that give you an ear worm, some that just find the escape route rapidly, but some songs are imprints that are inscribed into the crevices of your soul.
I don’t have a playlist. I just explore languages and anthropological roots of worship. What I find fascinating about apostolic worship is the unique yet universal nature of the worshiper.
Eyes closed, tears flow down cheeks creased with hard labour, maybe some traces of talcum, hands lifted up in a posture of surrender; and soft whispers of prayer or petition or thanksgiving. Worship of the unseen God is certainly one of the most fascinating
experiences.
I’ve had the privilege of worshipping with women all over this continent and even outside of it. What I find absolutely mesmerising is the bond that is shared between the worshiper and the creator. I’ve seen ecstasy and agony, Relief and release, devotion and deliverance, without a word being spoken. I’ve stood in congregations near women who are strangers yet feel like family.
The privilege of worship is sacrosanct. Especially when women come together- it’s becomes community,
Culture, and camaraderie- between the heavenly hosts, earthly beings and the Shekinah.

Sista’ to Sista’
Shalom!
A few years back I stumbled on a post from Instagram, which said, “Be that woman who straightens the other’s crown without telling her it is crooked-” and I said to myself, how profound. Society has always portrayed the relationship between women in colored lenses- painting them as jealous of each other’s achievements, calling it “Catfights,” tainting relationships between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law, making them probably the center of every joke.
My eyes wandered to the text in the Old Testament-where Moses is getting instructions to build the Tabernacle. He basically is downloading all of the graphic design components! Then the LORD talks about building the outer covering of the tabernacle.
“You must make the first cover of the Tabernacle out of 10 tapestries, woven out of twined linen, turquoise wool, purple wool, and scarlet wool. You must make them with a woven design of cherubim. Exodus:26-1
אִשָּׁה אֶל־אֲחֹתָהּ- “Isha El Ahotah” (A Hebrew idiom)
The tapestries were to be made out of twined linen, turquoise, and scarlet and were to have Cherubim’s woven onto them. Five tapestries must be attached to one another on one side and five must be attached to one another on the other side, coming towards each other and unifying in the middle so that they serve as a covering of the tabernacle on the planks. The maker is to sew them, with a needle, so he joins one another, one set of five separately and one set of five separately- so they can be connected with one another.
The Hebrew talks about this aspect in the feminine- Like a woman to a sister!
Isn’t it fascinating that when women get together, united in purpose and goal, they become the covering to God’s glory? The world and the enemy can bring a thousand different ploys to dilute this… enough of the negative bias…let’s come together, allowing the maker to unify us, sew us together, so we hang together, not outshining one another, but completing the sister beside us, so that we can become the protective covering to our communities, families, and churches.
